I’ve noticed my weight is slowly creeping up (a benefit of daily weight tracking) so lately I’ve been trying to get some regular exercise via push-ups. This has been humbling, since the heaviest things I usually lift are sandwiches.
A few weeks ago I bought a set of The Perfect Pushup rotating handles (As Seen On TV and, in my case, near the checkout at Staples). They are definitely worth the $20 I spent on them. I don’t worry that I’m going to damage my wrists any more.
I prefer exercise programs that are deterministic: I don’t want to think about how much I should do or whether I’m done yet. Today I hit upon the idea of doing 2 minute drills instead of counting. It feels like a good plan.
In a vaguely related note, I am musing about giving my parents a Wii Fit for Christmas. I don’t usually do elaborate gifts but it seems like the sort of thing my parents would never buy but might actually enjoy. I suspect it would either go over like gangbusters or be a total flop. No middle ground.
